Move in Your Destiny: Using God’s Word to Refute the Lies We Hear (Free Printable!)

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jer 29:11)

God loves us, and He has plans and a purpose for us—an enriching purpose that not only benefits us, but others around us. The devil hates this. He hates the theme of love, the direction of love, and would gladly have us walk away from the plans and purposes of God.

The other day I was talking to a dear friend of mine about the lies that had been buzzing around my mind lately. It honestly took me a while to realize that it was an onslaught of negativity aimed at my passion: writing. My friend is also a writer and agreed rather quickly. We told each other some of the things we had been hearing. They were malicious, slanderous lies—awful and ugly. Not only were they similar in nature, but we realized that these lies were aimed at dissuading us from the things God has called us to do.

As we move toward our destiny, the devil cringes. Lies are a tactic used to steer you away from what God has for you. Most lies are aimed at your identity, destiny, or relationships. And if we listen to them, we might stop in our tracks and not move toward our destiny. Yet, God has great things for us.

When you look in the Bible, you see the same tactics. Right when someone steps out to do something God has called them to do, the mission gets contested with doubt and lies. Gideon felt useless and weak, yet God called him to step out of his self-made identity and into a new one. Moses was given a mission from God and was tested to great length by Pharaoh’s rebuttals. Can you imagine the result if Moses had taken “No,” for an answer? Persistence and trust in God led these men past those hesitations of their identity or circumstances and into the wonders that only God’s hand through them could do.

Have you been hearing negativity and lies surrounding your identity, destiny or relationships? Would believing these lies cause you to step out of what you feel God has called you to?

I have a word of encouragement for you: if you are feeling that way, then congratulations, you have something to be excited about—God is leading you, and you ARE going somewhere. Something new is coming! God has beauty for you.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

So what do we do about all of those lies?

It’s time to refute those lies with the Word of God and get His truth in us so deeply, that when a lie comes, our mind goes straight to what God’s word says about:

  • Who we really are,
  • How God sees us, and
  • The good plans God has for us.

I have taken several scriptures and written them in a confession format. These are truths from the Word of God that you can speak out loud over your life.

I wonder how things would change if you read them out loud for one month? Sometimes our circumstances change, but sometimes our perspective of those circumstances change—and that can be an even greater victory!

Together, lets combat the lies by speaking the truth from God’s word.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Rom 12:2)

Print it out and hang it somewhere visible in your house or office and read it out loud so you can hear yourself speaking the truth.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see the beauty all around. Thank you for the promises and destiny you have for me. Lord, would you open my eyes to see the negativity that tries to come at me and remind me to fight it off by speaking your Word. I choose to see what you see, and I will overcome evil with good because you are with me.
