I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him. – Psalm 40:1-3
I started the other day in a crummy mood. I can’t fully remember why, but it didn’t seem to matter. Everything was ticking me off, and the more I thought about it, the more ticked I got. I wanted to wear a sign that said, “I’m in a bad mood, so everyone be gentle with me today.”
Honestly, I was being whiny and probably just needed a kick in the pants. No, I take that back, I think I just needed a hug. Throw me kind words and perhaps a little chocolate.
You may be having a bad day, and although I can’t hug you, I will try with these words.
Today is cloudy, it’s darker than I would like,
But time is still passing.
So what will I do as the time passes?
What will I think about as the clouds swirl around?
Lord, I want to think about you.
You, in your glory and all of your loveliness.
You, in your majesty and dominion over all the earth.
I want to see and feel your hand around me.
I want you to care for me as a mother cares for a child.
Dry my tears with your righteousness and then
Cloak me with it.
All this world can offer me dwindles away, and what is left is your majesty.
So instead of complaining today, I will praise.
I will fly up and out of the clouds and see the big picture.
I choose joy.
I choose life.
I choose to love others and myself.
I choose to laugh.
I choose to smile.
Why?
Because it is my choice.
Lord, I choose you and your spirit to be alive within me.
If you can sing over me, then I will join you and sing over my life and all around me.
The thorns that pressed against your head, was for me.
I will see the flower amongst the thorns.
Just as you did.
You saw me.
You loved me before I knew you.
You choose the joy that was set before you.
You choose me.
So Peace, be still, storm.
I command the clouds to part around me,
And the power of Jesus gladly takes over every molecule in the air around me.
I breathe you in God.
I am strong, because you delight in me.
You chose to give me your joy, peace and strength.
So today, I chose to walk with You.
Hand in hand, we will walk upon the water.
The grimace that threatened me
Has lost its power in your presence.
All must bow to the name of Jesus.
So today is going to be a great day.
Be blessed! Go get’em!
