It is imperative that we know that no matter what we face, we are never alone. It’s a complete lie the enemy loves to use—to tell us that everyone else has it good and somehow we are the ones with all the problems. Wrongo!
If you see the top 10% of a person’s life highlights, you may think they have it all together. Perfect family, house, car, decorations, outfits, hair, and body weight. Am I speaking to anyone here? Double wrongo!
No one is perfect, (besides Jesus) and no one has it perfect.
Life is not about achieving perfection, it is about living a life where we get to partner with God and let his glory be seen in our lives. We stretch, we grow, we tumble over, and He lovingly picks us back up. That is a testament to his glory and love for us.
This Christmas, don’t strive for perfection. So if your food doesn’t come out just like you planned on Christmas Day, it’s okay—at least you didn’t have to eat my hockey puck homemade rolls on Thanskgiving day. It’s okay if you don’t have the right decorations or outfit for that party, or that you got the wrong present for someone. Be released this Christmas, to allow room for the “oops.”
Representing God’s love and glory by loving others is what will leave a lasting impression when we hang out with family and friends. Being kind in the face of meanness, showing grace when things fall short—these share a glimpse of God to others. Jesus was born to bring us redemption from the imperfect, and it is His glory that ushers us into the presence of God.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. – Colossians 3:12-15
So this Christmas, read the story of Jesus’ birth and what He came to accomplish on this earth. Thank him for his perfect gift of salvation, redemption, and rightousensesss. God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. (I Cor 1:30)
Jesus is the best gift of all.
Until next time…
Be belssed and be a blessing!
Additional Reading for Christmas:
- The Birth of Jesus – Luke 2:1-19
- Zechariah’s Song (John the Baptist’s Dad prophesies what the Lord would do) – Luke 1:67- 79 Then his father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit and gave this prophecy: “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people. He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago. Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us. He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant– the covenant he swore with an oath to our ancestor Abraham. We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live. “And you, my little son, will be called the prophet of the Most High, because you will prepare the way for the Lord. You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins. Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”
